ABOUT US

OUR STORY

Rose & Chloe began with a conversation at a small Canadian craft fair in 1994. We had arrived separately, but found ourselves at the same textile stall, talking about the pieces in front of us. What could have been a passing conversation lasted through much of the fair. We exchanged numbers, and a friendship began.

For the next ten years, making things was simply something we loved doing together. We spent afternoons sharing patterns, choosing fabrics and creating pieces for our homes, families and friends. There was no business plan. We enjoyed each other’s company and the pleasure of turning an idea into something we could hold.

OUR FIRST LITTLE MARKET

In 2004, a friend encouraged us to take a small collection to a local craft market. We weren’t sure what to expect. What we remember most is watching people we’d never met stop to touch our work, ask how it was made and choose a piece to take home.

That experience stayed with us. In 2005, we officially started Rose & Chloe. The name came naturally. It was the two of us, making things together.

In those early years, we did everything ourselves. We chose materials, cut, sewed, quilted and finished each piece. We spoke with customers, packed their purchases and returned to the worktable the next morning. Little by little, familiar faces began coming back, sometimes bringing a friend.

GROWING OUR WORKSHOP

As the business grew, our work needed more room than our home tables could offer. We gradually settled into a dedicated workshop, with shelves of textiles, sewing stations and a large wooden table at its heart.

We wanted to keep making in a way that felt personal. So, over the years, we trained three local artisans in the methods and finishing standards we’d developed together. Maggie joined us in 2013, Laura in 2015 and Nina in 2018. They became trusted colleagues and an important part of the workshop’s everyday life.

Today, the five of us share the making. A piece may pass through several pairs of hands as it moves from cutting and sewing to assembly, finishing and final checks.

We both remain at the worktable. Rose has always gravitated towards colour, pattern and delicate finishing details. Chloe brings a practical eye for construction, functionality and the adjustments that help a piece work well in everyday use. Having a skilled team gives us more time for the intricate work and decisions that need our experience.

A LITTLE HELP BEHIND THE SCENES

Rose’s daughter Emily was six when we first met. She grew up around our friendship and, as a teenager, occasionally helped with the little jobs that came with market days.

Around 2017 and 2018, as online orders brought more work beyond the sewing table, Emily began helping regularly. Today, she looks after orders, packaging, shipping, inventory and the organisation around production. She keeps things moving so the five of us can spend more time making.

As more people discovered us online, our pieces travelled beyond the local markets where we began. But the workshop stayed small. We liked knowing the people around the table and staying close to the work that carried our names.

WHY WE’RE SAYING GOODBYE

In 2026, we reached 32 years of friendship and 21 years of Rose & Chloe. Looking back, we feel proud of what grew from that first conversation.

We also feel ready for a different rhythm. Rose wants more time with her husband David, their children and grandchildren. Chloe wants more time with her daughter Sophie and her family. There are visits, quiet afternoons and everyday moments we’ve often put off because something needed finishing at the workshop.

We’ve chosen to close this chapter while we can look back on it with gratitude. We’ve always wanted Rose & Chloe to stay personal, with our own hands and judgement involved in the work. Passing our names to a larger business or turning the workshop into a factory wouldn’t feel like the right continuation of our story.

ONE FINAL MAKING SEASON

Before we close, we’re making a final selection of some of our most-loved pieces alongside our small team.

This is our last season of making. Work continues at the table, with pieces at different stages of cutting, sewing, assembly and finishing. As we reach the point where we can no longer complete more of a particular design within our closing plans, it will become unavailable. Once that design is finished, it won’t be produced again.

As a final thank you for the years of support, we’re offering these pieces at up to 70% off. It’s our way of sharing this last chapter with the people who made it possible.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING ROOM FOR US

Every returning customer, thoughtful message and piece welcomed into a home has helped make these years special.

We hope something we’ve made will keep bringing a little warmth to your day long after the workshop closes. Thank you for giving two friends the chance to spend so many years doing something they love.

The friendship came first. And after 21 wonderful years, we’re choosing to close this chapter the same way we started it: together.

With love and gratitude,
Rose & Chloe
